Mary Jean “Grandma” Bright McManus, age 88 passed away on October 14, 2018. Jean was a lifetime member of Salem Baptist Church, a 1947 graduate and salutatorian of Halls High School, and a member of the Halls Women League. She worked for Knox County and City Schools. Jean loved kids and was known to so many as Grandma. She had an infectious smile and personality. She would always welcome you with a hug and a kiss. Preceded in death by husband Stewart McManus; parents Will & Della Bright; siblings Alma, Harriette, Clyde & Mabel Smith; and special grandson Dusty. Survived by daughter Sara (David) Wilson; sons Jim (Kathy), Joe (Elsie) and Sam (Paula); grandchildren Heather, Holly, Matthew, Brad, Nikki and Shelli; great grandchildren Taylor, Sadie, Jackson, Lucy, Parker, Gavin, Eli, Riley, Chloey, Luke, Wade & Will; brother-in-law Paul (Anna); sister-in-law Kathy (Charlie); several nieces and nephews; host of special friends. Family will receive friends on Thursday 5-7PM at Salem Baptist Church with a 7PM funeral service to follow. Family will meet Friday at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11AM interment. Rev. John Holland and Rev. Allen James officiating. Pallbearers will be Brad McManus, Matthew Wilson, Chip Lynch, Travis White, Randy Smith & Bobby Bottjer.
