Mary Evelyn (Pridemore) Hill

Mary Evelyn Pridemore Hill, 92, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 14, 2024, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, surrounded by the love and prayers of her daughters, Teresa, Cindy, and Amy. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Hill; parents, Nell and Tyler Pridemore; brother, Paul Pridemore, and sister, Lois Ford. Evelyn was a member of First Baptist Church and a graduate of Young High School, class of 1950. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Lambert Brothers Division of Vulcan Materials and assisted her husband for over 30 years at his State Farm Insurance agency in North Knoxville. After retirement, for eight years Evelyn enjoyed volunteering in her daughter Teresa’s classroom at South Knoxville Elementary School, where she helped first graders learn to read. Evelyn is survived by her twin brother, Joe Pridemore, daughters, Teresa Hill, Cynthia Hill Davis (The Reverend Joseph N.), Amy Hill Lutz (Clarence), and grandchildren, John Paschall Davis (Doris Zhao), Paul Maclin Davis, Eric Joseph Lutz, and John Tyler (“Tye”) Lutz. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:30 AM with The Reverend Joseph N. Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Halls.
