Mary E. Johnson of Oliver Springs, formerly of Halls, passed away peacefully on February 28th, 2021 surrounded by family at the home of her daughter. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was born on May 28th, 1937 to Virgil and Elsie Lonas. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralphael Johnson, infant brother Martin Lonas, daughter Tina Bell, son-in-law Robert Adams, granddaughter Renee Bridges, great-grandchildren Matthew Harris, Cameron Jones, and Samantha Coale, and brother-in-laws David Osborn, Sonny Maples, and Frank Littlejohn.
She is survived by her son, Randy and Jackie Koontz of Robbins, daughters Rose and Rob Lasher of Maynardville, Rhonda and Leland Iverson of Oliver Springs, and Teresa and Timmy Bridges of Powell, brother Phil and Jackie Lonas, sisters Marty Osborn, Judy Maples, and Brenda Littlejohn. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Michelle Moore, Jeremy Carr, Christopher Bridges, Melissa Shillings, Richard Welch, Mark Bell, Jr., Amanda Beeler, Beth McHaffie, Shauna Hines, Kylie McCarter and Lewis Robinson, Jr., 32 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by loving friends, Lila Collier, Jeremiah and Sara Dixon, Arnold and Brenda Smallin, son-in-law Murrell Jones and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Mary worked for the former Brickey Elementary and was a seamstress for Levi’s. She went on to be a full-time private caregiver of many over the years until she retired at 80 years old. Mary enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting. No one ever left her house hungry or did without anything she could provide. Mary loved her family almost as much as she loved Jesus. Her faith was unwavering and inspiring to those blessed to know her. No matter the trials and tribulations of this life she praised her Lord and Savior through every season.
The family would like to thank Maryanne, Shawna, and the other nurses and providers of Covenant Hospice for the excellent care provided to Mrs. Johnson that allowed her to stay home with family in her final days.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 6, 2021, from 10:00 am-12:00 pm, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm, with Arnold Smallin officiating. Immediately following, the family and friends will proceed to Ft. Sumter Cemetery for a graveside service and interment.
Pallbearers are grandsons Mark Bell, Jr., Lewis Robinson, Jr., Richard Welch, Jeremy Carr and great-grandsons Austin Robinson, Konner Carpenter, and Nicholas Carpenter.
