Mary Katherine Dupes

Mary Katherine Walker Dupes, age 87, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on December 9, 2024, at her home, Morning Pointe Assisted Living of Powell. Mary was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to Joe Claude and Katie Lee Walker on August 25, 1937. She worked at BellSouth Telephone Company for thirty-seven years, in which she took great pride. In her retirement, Mary found great joy sharing her love for music and dance. She taught dance classes and performed with her band at several Senior Citizens Centers in Knoxville. Most recently she used her love of music in the choir at Morning Pointe. Additionally, Mary was a faithful member of Sullivan Road Christian Church. Mary’s other hobbies included gardening and shopping. Her love for clothes, jewelry, shoes, and pocketbooks ensured she was always dressed to the nines for even the simplest occasions. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dupes; parents, Joe Claude and Katie Lee Walker; brother, Rick Walker; sister, Kaye Underwood. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Geoff and Leisa Dupes; grandchildren, Marina Dupes, Mckinley Snyder, and Dawson Snyder; sister, Carole Woods; brothers, Robert Walker, Jack Walker; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Mary will be remembered as a woman of faith who fiercely loved her family. The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the love and support of their family and friends during this time. They would also like to express their gratitude to the staff of Morning Pointe of Powell who showered her with so much love and attention. Their dedication to her care ensured she was able to fully enjoy the past two years of her life. Friends and family may call at their convenience from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel. Family and friends will meet by 12:45 PM Monday, December 16, 2024, at East Tennessee State Veterans’ Cemetery (Lyons View Pike) for a 1:00 PM graveside service with Chaplain Paul Trumpore officiating.
