Martin Roger Haynes

Martin R. "Marty" Haynes, age 61, of Knoxville, son of Robert (Jake) Haynes and Faye Messer, died on Sunday, September 16, 2018, while in the arms of his two children and brother. Marty is survived by his beloved mother, Faye Messer (Knox County); his two beloved children, Ferrari Haynes (Knox County) and Cody (Hannah) Haynes (Union County); two beloved grandchildren, Jepson Haynes and Weston Haynes; his brother, Stephen Haynes (Michigan); nieces, Tammy (Brian) Merkle and Kimberly Haynes; nephew, Chad (Holly) Haynes; aunts; uncles; and cousins. Marty was preceded in death by his father, Jake Haynes; stepfather, Bill Messer; his grandparents, Charlie Dunn and Flora Phillips and Mark and Gertie Haynes; and niece, Erin Haynes. A strong and feisty man throughout his life, Marty was never stronger than while taking his cancer journey. Rarely in life or throughout his cancer journey was he not seen wearing a beautiful and loving smile for those who were fortunate enough to be near him. Marty was involved as the right-hand man in many of the business ventures his stepfather, Bill Messer (deceased), and mother, Faye Messer, embarked on from gas station management to marina management to restaurant supply store management. He was never one to shy away from work and most recently enjoyed working as a pipeline worker at Brown Construction. Marty was a guitar-picking, music loving, Harley riding, part-time hell-raising free spirit who enjoyed life, his family and any adventure that came along. His zeal for excitement and pushing the limits was a trait known all too well by those around him. He is embarking on this new journey with a hearty dose of love from all that know him.
