Martha Monday

Martha Mayes Monday, age 92, of Knoxville, passed away after a short illness on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City and retired from General Electric after a long career of 30 years and KUB after 11 years. Martha was preceded in death by parents, John Sr. and Ethel Mayes; sibling John A. Mayes Jr.; and her beloved husband of 36 years John W. Monday Jr. Martha was passionate about the TN Vols, with her favorite sport being football, and her Boston Terriers. She is survived by her daughter, Mitzi Monday; sisters-in-law, Catherine Monday Waller and Dorothy Monday Shetler; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of Knoxville. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City from 5:00-7:00pm. Friends and family will meet Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 12:45pm at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 1:00pm interment, Senior Pastor, Dr. Mike Smith officiating.
