Martha Louise Clapp, age 87, of Corryton, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday morning, January 26, 2017. She was a long time member of Park City Presbyterian Church. Red and Martha celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in November 2016. She was retired from Knox County Schools as secretary and bookkeeper at Gibbs Elementary School. Martha will always be remembered for her warm smile. Preceded in death by parents, Albert and Bernice Luttrell; son-in-law, Larry Bowers and sister-in-law Shirley Luttrell. Survived by loving family: husband, David “Red” Clapp; brother, John Luttrell (Ruth); daughters, Becky McGhee (Pete) and Rachel Bowers; grandchildren Toni Maguire (Michael), Sydnee Wilson (Ernie), Lori Turner (Les), Gina Early (Brad), and Steve Bowers (Mary); great grandchildren, Sarabeth Atkins, Stephanie Maguire, Jason Maguire, Austin Stryker, Danielle Stryker, Emma Wilson, Eva Wilson, Elijah Turner (Christina), Jacob Turner, Samuel Turner, Tyler Early, Nathan Early, Camryn Bowers and Bryant Bowers; great-great granddaughter Turner due in July; and many special family members and friends. Serving as pallbearers are Ernie Wilson, Les Turner, Brad Early, Steve Bowers, Austin Stryker, Samuel Turner, Elijah Turner, Jacob Turner and honorary pallbearer Pete McGhee. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/Donate). The funeral service will be held at 6pm Saturday in the Chapel of Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City with nephews Todd Clapp and Richie Beeler officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45pm Sunday for a 2pm Interment at Graveston Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4pm until 6pm Saturday.
