Marjorie “Margie” Jones Smith, age 92, of Fountain City, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018. She was born on May 8, 1925 in Fountain City, Tennessee to Newt and Clara Jones. She married Clarence Tolbert “Smutt” Smith on December 31, 1942 in Chatsworth, Georgia. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City since April 4, 1948 and taught in the Pre-School department for 50+ years. She and her husband started Fountain City Wrecker Service in 1945. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved cooking for her family and caring for her flowers. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, C. Tolbert “Smutt” Smith; sons, David Smith and Dr. Jerry T. Smith; daughter-in-law Mary Lou Parker Smith. She is survived by sons, Joel Smith and wife Lesa, Steve Smith and wife Susan; grandchildren, Robert and Elizabeth Smith, Dr. David and Robin Smith, Chad and Pam Smith, Chris and Taylor Smith; great grandchildren, Megan DesJarlais, Josh Smith, Anthony Smith, Alyssa Smith, Madelyn Smith, Brooke Smith, Jackson Smith and Eli Smith; 2 great great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the entire staff at The Courtyards Senior Living Inskip for their care for Margie and Amedysis Hospice Care of Knoxville for their care and compassion. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Saturday, April 28th at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Rev. Jeff Lane officiating. Family and friends will meet at Lynnhurst Cemetery at 1:45 on Sunday, April 29th for a 2pm interment.
