Margaret (Memaw) Palmer, age 86, of Knoxville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Roan Mountain, Tennessee, to Bob and Frankie Jarrett, she was the oldest of eight children with seven younger brothers. Margaret graduated from Banner Elk School of Nursing and worked as Dr. George Filmore’s nurse for over 30 years. She was a longtime faithful member and treasurer of Beaverdale Baptist Church. Margaret was an incredible cook and found great joy in feeding others. She also enjoyed crocheting, and made many beautiful afghans for people throughout the years.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Asa C. Palmer; parents, Bob and Frankie Jarrett; brothers, Mack, Ralph, Carl, and Dana Lee.
She is survived by daughters, Joan Jones (Arch) and Judy Allen (Fred); grandchildren, Keith Hawkins (Ashley), Melissa Jones, Carolyn Lowery (Justin), Arch Jones (Allison), and Kate Barker (Jonathan); great grandchildren, Austin, Piper, Lincoln, Camren, Samuel, Gordon, and Sallie Belle; brothers: George, Tommy, and Dickie; Lots of nieces and nephews, and special friends, Juanita Webb, Christopher Humphreys, Brenda Stegall, and Sam Foster. A special thank you to Dr. Jeffrey Drinnen and staff.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel at 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Beaverdale Baptist Church to be used for mission outreach, 1701 Cunningham Road, Knoxville, TN 37918.
