Lura Jane Carden

Lura Jane Carden, of Heiskell, TN, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, into the arms of her Heavenly Father. 

She was a long-time member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and worked several years with the fellowship committee cooking and serving food at church gatherings. Jane was well known for her friendship cakes that she gave freely. Jane retired from the Standard Knitting Mill where she worked for many years.

Preceded in death by husband, Carl Carden; baby boy, Ward Carden; parents, Henry Lossen and Bonnie Long; sisters, baby Ella, Brenda and Jennie; brothers, Roy Long (Thelma), Glen Long, Monroe Long (Wanda); brothers-in-law, Bob Kibler and Gary Cate.

Survived by sisters, Elsie Kibler, Dorothy Cate, Louise McNeely (Dr. Trent), Darlene Irwin (Chris); brothers, Leon Long (Judy), Arlie Long (Adina), Benny Long (Vickie); sister-in-law, Pat Long; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will meet on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 1:45pm at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery for a 2:00pm graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, family is requesting donations be made to The Gideons International, Knox Northwest Camp, P.O. Box 560, Powell, TN 37849, in Laura Jane Carden’s honor.
