Louise Buchanan Harper was born Mary Louise Conway to Mayme Gertrude Pratt and Paul Livingston Conway at Butler Landing, Mississippi County, Arkansas, August 8, 1921. She went to be with the Lord January 27, 2024, in Knoxville, TN, at the age of 102.

She is Survived by her Daughter Mary Lou Morris and her husband Carl Morris, CAPT, USN Retired, of Sarasota, FL, Granddaughter Sheila Buchanan Cole and her husband David Cole of Corryton, TN, Grandson Mark Buchanan and his wife Monica of Craig CO, Grandson Andrew James Morris and his wife Danielle of Leavenworth, WA, Five great-grandchildren and Seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Jim Harper and her son Johnny Pleasant Buchanan.

 Louise was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, including First Methodist in Osceola, AR, Pulaski Heights Methodist in Little Rock, AR, and for 30 years a member of Powell Methodist Church in Powell, TN.

Louise was a secretary and an administrative assistant. She was the Assistant to the head of the nursing school at Baton Rouge General. She worked mostly in the medical field. She and Jim lived in Osceola and Little Rock, AR, Memphis, TN, Baton Rouge and Shreveport, LA and Mobile, AL. Louise traveled extensively including trips to Israel, Venezuela, Italy and Scandinavia. She visited Mary Lou and Carl in Newport, RI, San Diego and Monterey, CA, Arlington and Virginia Beach, VA, and Sarasota, FL.

Louise was a member of the Emory Road Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

Louise moved to Powell after Jim died in 1994. She lived alone until she was 100 when she moved to Parkview Senior Living in North Knoxville. She made friends quickly and enjoyed her time there. Parkview had a big party for her 102nd birthday which was covered by Channel 8 Knoxville. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 5-7PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Powell Chapel. On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, family and friends will meet at Fairview Cemetery (900 E. Tickle Street Dyersburg, TN 38024) at 11:45AM for a 12:00PM interment.
