Captain Louis Gale Trivett, USAF, ret., age 77, of Knoxville went to be with his Lord Saturday, April 7th, surrounded by family. Lou was born July 17, 1940 in Bristol, TN to his parents Acton Beryl and Ada (Rutherford) Trivett. He married his wife Tonya (Davis) Trivett in 1964. Lou retired from the USAF and had a second career as a booster rocket engineer for the space shuttle program. He retired in 2011. Lou was a dedicated and loyal husband, father, and grandfather. He was kind and had a way of making anyone feel like a part of the family. An avid sports fan, Lou loved his Tennessee Vols and reported for the Moore County News during his retirement. He was always up for an adventure, sunshine, or a trip to Hawaii. He could discover the best “hole in the wall” restaurants. He loved visiting our country’s national parks and climbed Half Dome at the age of 66. His favorite times, though, were when his entire family gathered together at his home on Tims Ford Lake in Lynchburg, TN. He loved his family and lived to make them happy.
Lou is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Tonya Trivett; his daughter, Kelly (David) Garner; his sons, Chip (Kimmie Miller) Trivett, and Kevin (Cindy) Trivett; his grandson, Chris (Lauren) Garner; his granddaughters, Rebekah (Dustin) Haddock, Britni Trivett, and Gracie Trivett; his seven beloved great-grandchildren; his sister, Judy Trivett; and nephew Jason Trivett.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm. Family and friends will meet 10:45 am, Saturday, at Lynnhurst Cemetery for interment at 11:00am.
The family would like to thank UTMC for their outstanding care. In lieu of flowers, they have requested donations be made to the East TN Kidney Foundation.
