Lois Jewell Turner Swaggerty slipped from this life into life everlasting on Monday, March 27, 2017. Lois was born December 24, 1928 in Knoxville, TN to Charles and Thelma Turner. She was the oldest daughter of 10 children and was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers; Don Turner, Jim Turner and Ray Turner and her sister Bobbie Kidd. Lois married the love of her life, James Thomas Swaggerty, Jr. on May 24, 1947. They were totally devoted to one another through 68 years of marriage until Jim’s death in 2015. Their son, Michael also preceded both of them in death. We know there was a joyous reunion in heaven when the three of them were united once again. Lois was a devoted member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church and taught first grade Sunday School for many years. She retired from Kmart in 1990 after almost 30 years of service. Lois is survived by her two daughters, Pat (Rusty) Cabage and Tina Collins; her four grandchildren, Jennifer (Jerry) Owens, Travis (Amanda) Cabage, James Michael “Jay” Collins and Emily Anne Collins; her four great-grandchildren, Samantha and Cody Owens and Anna and Cora Cabage. She is also survived by her brothers; Jack Turner, John Turner and Paul Turner and her sisters; Linda Neff and Mary Lane. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 2 from 5-7 pm at Ball Camp Baptist Church, 2412 Ball Camp Byington Rd, Knoxville. A service celebrating her life and legacy will follow at 7:00 pm, with Dr. J.C. Parrott and Rev. Lee Fox officiating. Interment will be Monday, April 3 at 11:30 a.m. at the State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Gov John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville.
