Lockie Hickle Compton

September 10, 1907 — May 17, 2013

God has a new angel. Lockie Hickle Compton, age 105, went to Heaven May 17, 2013. Lockie was bom in Union county but lived in Knoxville with her aunt Cora. Lockie was a bookkeeper at Sanitary Laundry for 60 years and was a graduate of Knoxville Business College. She was the oldest member of Oakwood Methodist Church and also the oldest member of Eastern Star chapter 69. She was honored by the mayor when she turned 100. She always had a smile for all and never complained and loved working her puzzles and reading her Bible. She attributed her longevity to love of family and friends and hugs from all she met. She is preceded in death by father, mother, sisters brothers and beloved son-in-law Harland Vix. Survived by daughter Mary Lee Vix grandchildren Lisa Livesay, Scott Lee, great-grandchildren Paige Lee, Brandon Lee, Ail Livesay, Logan Livesay, and Lindy Livesay. Lockie's family would especially like to thank those who helped make her last years pleasant and comfortable—Care givers at Amedisys Hospice, Samantha, Ashley, Tina, Bobbie social worker and Chaplain Clay. The family also would like to thank special friends who assisted with Lockie’s care Nancy Whitehead, Diana Cruze, Rose Jones and Lockie’s niece, Martha Clapp. Memorial service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, June 23 at Emerald Avenue Methodist Church. Reverend Bob Bean and Chaplain Clay Mumford will officiate.
