Linda Lundy Sharp passed away peacefully Friday, November 15, 2024, after a courageous health battle. Linda was born on July 28, 1948, in Knoxville, TN to Ira Lundy and Eula Onks Lundy. After graduating from Gibbs High School and Tennessee School of Beauty, she married Carl Michael Sharp on February 7, 1968. Linda dedicated her life to raising their sons, Wess, Wayne, Blake and Rance, and these four were her greatest source of pride and joy.
Linda was also very proud of her eight grandchildren and was such a fun Mammy to them. She always made time to play, whether it was an exciting adventure outside or a tea party on the floor. They will especially miss her legendary surprise Halloween costumes every year.
Linda’s nieces, whom she loved as sisters, also held a special place in her heart and life.
To her family, Mammy’s memory will live on in every peanut M&M, persimmon, chestnut, Magnolia bloom, ruby red slipper, and Krystal burger. She will also be remembered for her many collectibles, junk jars, silver bling jewelry and her giving nature, as you never left her home empty-handed.
You may know Linda from her school days, from the decades she spent in the bleachers or concession stands at Halls Community Park, from her time as a teacher aide at Whittle Springs Middle School, or from her years as a Walmart Greeter in Halls. Perhaps you have met her at a thrift store or antique shop where she frequently went “junking,” or from the restaurants where she was a regular. No matter how you know her, you know Linda Sharp was a one-of-a-kind, special lady with a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Eula Lundy; brother Bill Lundy (Doris); and sister Kathryn McCall (Bill).
She is survived by husband Mike Sharp; sons and daughters-in-law Wess & Laura, Wayne & Jenifer, Blake & Maria, and Rance & Jenna; and grandchildren Sage, Presley, Porter, Maisen, Benton, Reagan, Greer, and Dow. She will also be missed by her brother and sister-in-law Gary and Pat Lundy, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to a casual Celebration of Life reception on Saturday, November 23rd anytime from 5:30-7:30 pm at the chapel of Sacred Ground Hospice House – 1120 Dry Gap Pike. In honor of Linda’s life, memorial donations may be made to Sacred Ground at www.sacredgroundhospicehouse.com.
