Lida “Kay” Ward, 76, of Knoxville, gained her heavenly wings and flew into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, at 5pm on December 3, 2021, with her family by her side. A member of Clear Springs Baptist Church, Kay served the Lord and many people came to know Christ through her obedience. At 5:00 pm December 3rd Kay and her best friend of 50 years, Karen Boyer, left this earth and entered into paradise together. Lida Kay was reunited in Heaven with her husband, Ralph Ward; mother Alma Sweet; step-father, Robin “Sweetpea” Sweet; dad, Roy Harrison; step-mother, Quillin Harrison; brothers, Kenny Godfrey and Jerry Godfrey.
Left to honor her memory are daughter, Sherri (James) Gentry; granddaughters, Desa (Derick) and Ashley (Owen); grandson, Joshua; great-grandchildren, Ava Claire, Axton, and Nay; brothers, RC (Joyce), Charles (Linda), and Bob; sisters, Joyce, Elizabeth (Larry), and Rose (Ernie); brothers Joe Harrison; step brothers, Donald Garrett and Joe Garrett; Aunt Shirley; special cousin, Colene; special nieces, Lori, who provided emotional support for the family and Sarah, who is a nurse that stayed with Kay & the family around the clock to ensure all needs were provided. Sister Rose was also there to help provide care around the clock.
Many people were touched by Kay’s compassionate heart. Kay stayed with several people as a caregiver through the years. She also served at Clear Springs Baptist Church’s mission house along side with her dearest friends. Before retiring, Kay was also a server at Golden Corral and truly loved serving and caring for people.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday December 7, 2021, at Clear Springs Baptist Church 7350 Tazwell Pike Corryton, TN 37721 the funeral will begin at 7:00 pm officiated by Rev. Charlie Lynch and Rev. Mark Large. Family and friends will meet Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel for a procession to Highland South Memorial Gardens for a 1:00 pm entombment service.
