Leonard Sams

Leonard Monroe Sams age 81 of Knoxville, TN passed away on April 13, 2023. Leonard was Navy Veteran served on USS Shangri-La CVA-38 Aircraft Carrier. Leonard served during the Cuban Blockage Crisis. He retired from John H Daniels after 33 years of service. He was also a Coach and Trainer at Ace Miller Golden Gloves Arena. Proceeded in death by parents, Orville & Mary Sams; sister, Dianna & brother-in-law Ace Miller; sister, Shirley & brother-in-law Doug Eckard.  Survived by loving and caring wife Brenda Sue Sams ; Earth side sister Regina Odom (Randy) ; children Regina Delph (Jeff), Dena Flatt (James), Leonard Sams (Vicki). Grandchildren; Haley Shipley (Benjamin) stationed in Japan, Sydney Moore (Justin), Megan Sams, Chad Hinton Ashlie), Ryan Delph (Lori), Andy Compton (Sabrina). Great grandchildren; Greysyn Delph, Case Moore, Delyah Compton. Sister and brother-in-law's Sylvia Waters (Bill), Tina Robinson (Randy), Jimmy Ballad(Jan). Special friends; Allen and Trish Coleman, Tony and Pat Catlett. Many more nieces, nephews, family and friends. Very special thanks to caring physician Antoin Mardini, also Covenant Hospice and the best hospice nurse, Beth Donahue. Also, to wonderful neighbors Barbara, Bob and John.
