Leon Franklin Vineyard, age 88, of Powell, Tennessee, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, September 4, 2022. He was a lifetime member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, a retired iron worker and partner with Gi Gi Industries. Leon was the proud owner and operator of 441 Market and Convenience Store where he continued to make cherished friends. Leon was an active supporter within the Halls Community and as a race car builder and mechanic, he was honored to be presented with the East Tennessee Dirt Track Hall of Fame award for his continuous and active participation within the racing community. Leon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wandalee Vineyard in 1994. He is survived by his children, Connie (Bob) Edmondson, Denise Vineyard, Teresa (Jack) Stooksbury, Mark (Amy Jones) Vineyard; grandchildren, Jeff (Linda) Edmondson, Heather (Patrick) Abbott, Brandon (Alison) Stooksbury, Britney (Chase) Hill and Storm Vineyard; great-grandchildren, Sara, Jon, Anna, Emalee, Ty, Alethia, Silas, Boaz and Maylee Jane; brother, H.E. Vineyard; sister, Joella West; very special friend, Tish Gordon and Leon’s work family/staff at 441 Market for all of their care and love over the years. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM. Brandon Stooksbury officiating. Family and friends will meet by 10:30 AM Friday, September 9, 2022 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel and proceed to Norris Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 AM graveside service.
