Laverne Helton

LaVerne Douglas Helton, age 59 of Maynardville passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021. A member of Shepard of the Hills Baptist Church. She loved her church and teaching the children and being a positive influence in their life. LaVerne enjoyed fishing and camping and loving on her animals and spent much of her time crocheting “gifts” for many ministries and nursing home residents. She is survived by her husband of 39 years Marvin Glenn Helton Sr.; parents William and Yvonne Douglas; children Marvin Glenn Helton Jr. and wife Christy Helton, Joshua Olin Helton; granddaughter Serina Rose Marie Helton; sisters Charmaine Stark (Phil), Iolanda Stark (Tony), Angela Waggoner; brother Billy Douglas (Tanya); nieces and nephews that were very dear to her, Denise, Robert, Will, and Hannah; and a host of cousins and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Shepard of the Hills Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 7:00 PM officiated by Pastor Leland Lyon. Family and friends will gather at 12:45 PM on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Shiloh Cemetery 118 Henderson Rd in Pigeon Forge for a 1:00 PM graveside service.
