Lavern “Vern” Lohman, age 86, of Knoxville, passed away on February 1, 2017. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Powell. He was born in Hamilton, Michigan to Edwin and Jennie Lohman on June 17, 1930. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951 during the Korean conflict and was stationed for 18
months with the 38th Ordnance M.M. Corps in Seoul, Korea. Vern had a long career as an automotive mechanic, most recently in bus maintenance at Temple Baptist Church in Powell. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sons. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Lois Hess Lohman; daughter, Karen and husband Brad Epp of Spring Hill, TN; son, Karl Lohman and wife Tara of Knoxville; daughters, Verna and husband Brian Mansfield, Rebecca and husband Bobby Newport of Knoxville; grandchildren, Jennie Ellen Epp of Brookline, MA, Christian Epp of Franklin, TN, David (Naomi) Lohman of Kiev, Ukraine, Johanna Lohman, Mary Mansfield, Peter Mansfield, Andrew Mansfield, Blake Newport and Katie Newport of Knoxville. The family will receive friends 5:00–7:00 p.m., Friday at Temple Baptist Church with funeral service to follow, Dr. Clarence Sexton officiating. Interment services are private.
