Kenneth Eugene “Scottie” Longmire, age 83, went home to be with Jesus on March 29, 2021. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Della Katherine Longmire, without whom, he would tell you, he never would have made it this far; daughters Robin Gresham and Mary Nolan; granddaughters Tara Nolan and Amelia Gresham, who were his pride and joy; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and neighbors. Scottie came to faith in Jesus Christ and was saved, baptized, and a member of Texas Valley Baptist Church. In the weeks preceding his parting, he shared that, “I ain’t afraid of dying. I’m not, because I know that I’ve got a better place to go.” Scottie never met a stranger, and his passion was gardening and sharing the fruits of his labor with others. He was retired from Lay Packing Co. The family will receive friends from 5:30pm-7:30pm on Wednesday, March 31 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Brent Gresham, Dwight Sturgeon, James Wolfenbarger, and Victor Cox. The family will meet at 10:15am on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, to proceed to Fort Sumter for an 11:00am graveside service, officiated by Rev. Charlie Tindell.
