Kenneth Dean Johnson passed away peacefully at home on February 4, 2021 at the age of 82.
He was born on February 1, 1939 in Knoxville, TN to Herbert and Margaret (Sis) Johnson where he was one of 9 siblings: Henry Johnson, Vonceal Jenes, Huey Johnson, Billie Blankenship, David Johnson, Sue Lawson, Mary Keck, and Lillian DeFord. He graduated from Halls High School in 1958. He worked at Knoxville Utilities Board for over 30 years where he was a lineman. In his spare time, he loved restoring antique cars and was an active member in the Volunteer Street Rods.
He is survived by his wife Janice Johnson from Knoxville, TN; his daughter, Lisa Collier and her husband, Jimmy Collier; his son, Scott Johnson and his wife, Kelly Johnson; grandchildren Matthew Collier and wife Erin, Tyler Collier, Mallory O’Brien and husband Andrew, and Andrew Johnson, all from Knoxville, TN; and great grandchild Miles Collier. His grandchildren and great grandchild were his world, and he loved them with all his heart.
Friends and family will meet on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 1:45 PM for a 2:00 PM graveside service at East Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery on John Sevier Hwy. The family would like to thank the staff at UT Hospice for the compassionate, angelic care they provided during this difficult time. Also, special thanks to caregivers Anita Russell, Ruthie Burner and Ralph Crane, all of whom Ken loved dearly.
