Kenneth Craig Conn, age 63 and a resident of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 29, 2024 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Jeanette Conn of Berea, KY; his brother Charles Conn of Lexington, KY; and grandparents Charlie and Mabel Todd of Berea, KY.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years Kelly Conn of Knoxville, TN; son William Conn and wife Rebecca of Williamsburg, KY; daughter Caitlyn Spears and husband Gabriel of Knoxville, TN; and 3 grandchildren who were the apples of his eye, Zechariah and Tobias Conn, and Dalton Spears. He is also survived by a host of cousins and friends.
Craig was born in Madison County, KY, where he grew up attending Berea Community School. There he formed lifelong friendships through many activities, such as football and baseball. He spent his summers on the family farm learning the meaning of diligence and hard work.
He continued to learn those skills while working at the family grocery store and laundry mat. His academic pursuits led him to many universities including: Berea College, Western Kentucky University, University of the Cumberlands, and the University of Tennessee.
During that time, he earned his degree in accounting and was able to play collegiate and minor league baseball. In 1982, he welcomed his firstborn child, William Kenneth. After his son was born, Craig became a Regional Manager for several fuel centers throughout the KY and TN area. In 1995, he met his loving wife Kelly, and in 1996, they welcomed their daughter, Caitlyn Jeanette. Craig completed his career working in logistics starting at Jewelry Television and ending at Woodstream, Inc.
In 2013, Craig was blessed with his first grandson, Zechariah Charles Lee; 5 years later, his second grandson, Tobias Maxwell Kenneth; and in 2024, his final grandson, Gabriel Dalton Spears, Jr.
Craig spent his time reading, watching the Cincinnati Reds, and watching Tennessee athletics with his beloved dog Rudy. As Craig always said, “Go Vols!”.
A memorial service will be held at Mynatt Funeral Home, Powell Chapel, 2000 Powell Drive Knoxville, TN 37849, on Saturday, November 9, 2024. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00pm with the memorial service to follow. At the request of the family, please wear your best Tennessee orange!
