Karri, 57, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Flatrock, MI, passed away on Sunday evening, March 30, 2025. She is survived by her son, Ashton Akers, and her daughter, Brittany Larson. Her siblings: David Welch, Kristine Slates, and Aaron Welch. And her parents Dave and Linda Welch; who loved and supported her deeply.
While many knew her through the lens of pain and hardship, she was simply Mom. A woman whose life held layers of beauty, fire, struggle, and growth. She was the kind of woman who could make people laugh in their darkest hour, someone who was deeply creative, often misunderstood, and profoundly human.
In recent years, Karri embarked on a journey of accountability and healing, striving to carry the weight of her past with humility and presence. One of the greatest gifts of her life was the deep reconciliation she shared with her daughter—a sacred healing marked by forgiveness, vulnerability, and grace.
Karri taught those who knew her a love that was hard-won, yet deeply transformative.
Grief, like love, rarely arrives clean or easy. But to witness someone’s life in full, to meet their pain with compassion and still choose love is one of the deepest acts of grace we can offer. That grace is her legacy.
The family will hold services at a later date.
Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain city is honored to serve the family of Karri Lynn Akers.
