J.W. Jones

John William “J.W.” Jones passed away April 14, 2017. He was born March 25, 1938, to the late Jesse Otto and Julia Dentie Jones. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. J.W. enjoyed golfing and fishing. He taught at Sterchi Elementary and Halls High, was assistant principal at Gibbs High and principal at Ritta Elementary. He also coached basketball at Sterchi Elementary and Halls High and coached golf at Halls High. Preceded in death by brother Clay Dan Jones. He is survived by his wife Frances Cooley Jones; daughter Susan Diane Jones; sons and daughters-in-law Larry Douglas and Pam Jones and Steve Alexander and Winnie Jones; grandchildren Travis and Brett Jones, Joshua Richardson, Jesse Jones, Lauren and Jeff Elenbaas; great granddaughter Logan Elenbaas; sister Sylvia Jones Allen; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:30am – 12:30pm on Monday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow at 12:30pm, Dr. Alan Price officiating.
