J. P. Hillier Stivers, age 84 of Knoxville, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a Veteran of U.S. Air Force. He was retired from TVA with 27 years of service and a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in Civil Engineering. Preceded in death by parents, Franklin and Louise Stivers; brothers, Franklin, Bertram, Dorsie, and Atwood; sister, Toulene Dezearn. Survived by wife and childhood sweetheart of 61 years, Jewell Stivers; daughter, Deann Stivers Allen and husband James of Manchester, KY; granddaughters, Carolyn Ann Allen of Louisville, KY, Mary Jewell Allen of Manchester, KY; sister, Sophia Stivers, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of Beverly Park Place for their kindness during his stay. The family will receive friends 2:30 – 3:30 pm Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow. Rev. Dennie Humphreys and Rev. Charla Sherbakoff officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be held 3:00 pm Monday at Sizemore, Stivers and Reid Cemetery in Manchester, KY.
