Joyce Kitts Abner, age 86 slipped peacefully into eternal rest surrounded by her family after an extended illness, throughout the day singing ”Just As I Am"
She was a charter member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church where she held numerous offices through the years. She loved her Lord, her church, and her pastors.
When in third grade she met the love of her life. Married at the age of 16, she remained married for 63 years. Her family was always one of the most important things in her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Bobby R. Abner, sons Bobby Dwain and Brian D, her parents RT and Grace Vandergriff Kitts; stepmother Ruth Kitts; sisters Eva Luttrell, Ada Daniels, Patricia Ford, Jeanetta Welch; brothers Rev. Theodore Kitts and Michael Kitts.
Her survivors are Karen (Russell) Bell, and son Kevin (Toshia) Abner; Grandchildren Joshua (Alisha), Amanda Gordon Jason (Kristen) Abner, Chelsey (Justin) Goodman, Dylan (Bethany) Abner, Emily (Ethan) Summers, Great grandchildren Elijah and Hadassah Gordon, Alayna, Grayson Abner, Alivia Abner; brothers Rev. Elbert W (Helen)Kitts, Steve, James, Robert Jr, Jeff Kitts; sisters Janet Wolfe, Debbie Cooper, Melissa Bowling; special sister-in-law Juanita Beckham. Many beloved nieces and nephews, and her friend and partner Clarke Marshall.
The family will receive friends and family at Grace Missionary Baptist Church at 10:00am on Tuesday December 6, 2022 with a funeral service at 11:00am with a graveside to follow at Kitts Family Cemetery with Pastor Michael Darden , Rev Tommy Louthan, to officiate. Speaker: Joshua Gordon
