Rev. Johnny Lee Gray, Jr. age 85, passed away April 13, 2017. He was the son of John L. and Mae Gray. He is preceded in death by Loriene Weaver and Lewis Gray; son-in-law, Joe Carl Rankhorn; and his wife of 62 years Trula Gray. He was called to preach the word of God in 1960. He pastored Westside Mission in 1968-1972. He saw that this mission constituted as a church. He pastored at the following churches: Ridgedale Baptist Church 1972-1987 , Elbenzer Baptist Church in Bryant, Alabama 1987-1994, returned to Westside Baptist Church 1994-1995, Union Chapel in Kingston, TN 1995-1998, Interimon at Northwest Baptist Church 1998-2000, Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church 2000-. He served as monerator of the Lookout Association in Georgia. He served as chairman of several committees. He went on mission trips to build churches. He is survived by daughter, Sandra Rankhorn of McMinnville, TN and son Randy (Kim) Gray of Powell, TN; grandchildren, Jason (Shay) Rankhorn, Dunlap, TN, Amanda (Shawn) Priest, of McMinnville, TN, AmiBeth (T.J.) King, Powell, TN. He had 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Wallace of Powell, TN, and Sue Strange (Hooper) of Union County, TN; and special friend, Mozella Wallace. Service will be held Tuesday 7pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, Rev. John Holland and Rev. Larry Day officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45am Wednesday Fort Sumter Cemetery for 11am interment. Family will receive friends 5-7pm Tuesday Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
