Johnny Eugene Broadwater

Johnny Eugene “Gene” Broadwater, age 68, of Knoxville went home to be with the Lord October 11, 2012. He was a member of West View Wesleyan Church and had served during Vietnam in the US Marine Corps. He was retired from Amtrak and was currently a volunteer for Knox County Office on Aging as a Senior Companion. He was preceded in death by parents Pauline and William Mitchell and daughter Karen Broadwater. He leaves behind children David Broadwater and Melissa Cole, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, siblings and spouses Evelyn and Bill Walker, Charlotte and John McFall, Archie and Shirley Mitchell, Floyd Mitchell and, Mary Ellen Mitchell, companion Joyce Thomas, as well as several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West View Wesleyan Church. Funeral services will be held 6 pm Sunday at West View Wesleyan Church with Pastor Daniel Mayhle officiating. Friends and family will meet 11:15 am Monday at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery Governor John Sevier. The family will receive friends at West View Wesleyan Church 4-6 pm Sunday.
