Johnny Dewayne Jessie went home to be with Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior, on April 7, 2022. He was a member of First Baptist Church Powell and retired from Morristown Utility Systems. To say he was a car/motorcycle enthusiast would be an understatement. Yet he had more love and passion for his family and friends. Doting on his grandchildren became his favorite hobby. He was caring and generous to all who knew him.
Johnny was preceded in death by parents, Joe & Madeline (Keck) Jessie; grandparents Paris Palmer & Lellie Keck and Elvin & Rosa Jessie.
He leaves on earth and will be greatly missed by wife, Sandra (Bailey); bonus children, Chris Ramsey and Sara & John Fanjoy; quasi adopted son, Rodney Hill; grandchildren, Parker and Sloane Fanjoy; mother-in-law, Shirley Bailey; brother-in-law, Larry (Mary) Bailey; aunts, Mary Jo (Keck) Brooks, Ann Harness, Carol (Cliff) Keck, Cecilia Jessie, Alene Jessie and Judy Jessie; uncle, William Jessie; nieces, nephews, many loving cousins and special friends.
A home going celebration will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 7:00 pm at First Baptist Church Powell with Rev. Tim McGhee, Rev. Phil Jones, and Rev. Perry Garrett officiating. Family will greet guests beginning at 5:00 pm. A private interment will occur later at Burch Cemetery in New Tazewell, TN.
Special thanks to UT Medical Center and Hospice, especially Nurse Tammy, for the care and compassion shown to Johnny and family.
