John Paul Rutledge, age 80 of Powell, TN passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. He was born on June 2, 1943 in Maryville, TN. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angie Brooks; parents, Roy and Hester Rutledge; brothers, Jimmy, Lawrence & Ben Rutledge; special sister, Anna Griffin. He is survived by his Loving Wife of 60 years Jessie Rutledge; sons, John & David Rutledge; grandsons, Jacob Brooks & Chris Wooten; granddaughter, Ashley McCarley; sister, Mary Sasse; great-granddaughter, Lexie McCarley; great-grandson, Nolan Bell. John was a practical jokester and loved pulling pranks on people. His humor and fun loving personality is going to be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be held 7:00pm Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel. Brother Jacob Brooks and Rev. Joe Kennedy officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45am Friday, April 26, 2024 at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11:00am interment service.
Pallbearers will be John Rutledge, Jacob Brooks, Billy Brooks, Charles Griffin, Roy Griffin and Eddie Griffin, Jr.
