John Rufus Hill

John R. Hill – age 89 (born April 12, 1923) of Knoxville passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville, Preceded in death by parents Norvel and Cynthia Ellen Hill; sisters, Odessa Cooper and Lena Everett; brothers, Deadrick and Albert (Buck) Hill. He was a graduate of Halls High School Class of 1941, Knoxville Business College, Tennessee Wesleyan College, Class of 1948 and the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Education, class of 1950. He was an employee at Union Carbide K-25 for eight years and was an insurance agent with State Farm for 33 years. Survived by wife, Evelyn Pridemore Hill; daughters, Teresa Hill, Cindy Davis and husband, Rev. Joseph N. Davis of Nashville, Amy Lutz and husband, Clarence E. Lutz of Nashville; grandsons, Paschall Davis, Maclin Davis, Eric Lutz and John Tyler Lutz. Family will receive friends 12 Noon to 2 pm on Monday with funeral service to follow at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. Joseph N. Davis and Rev. John Thomas Everett officiating. Interment will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First Baptist Church, 510 W. Main Street, Knoxville, TN 37902 or to another charity of choose.
