John R. Whitehead Jr. (aka John Bob/JB)—Son, brother, uncle, friend—42, died on January 25, 2021. As a kid, JB always had the biggest smile and loved to play with his siblings. He experienced love and loss through his life, but always tried to see the best in people. And when that failed he’d find the good in any dog. Rescuing any stray he found, although his heart always belonged to his husky Lexus, or, arguably, one of his most recent rescues, a blind husky named Shy. He was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, and enjoyed golf with his dad and friends. He was full of style and charm, which is perhaps how he talked his older sister’s friend into going to his senior prom with him. He was always the “cool” uncle with the latest tech, letting his nieces and nephew check it out when they’d visit, or even sitting back and laughing while they tried to ride one of his many dogs like a horse. Recently, he could be found spending time with his brother Ryan. He was caring and helped take care of his mom with work around the house and reminding her she was special. He was preceded in death by his mother, LeVera Whitehead, two short months ago and missed her dearly. He was also preceded by his two older brothers Brian Walker and Kevin Walker. He is survived by his father John Whitehead, sister Lorie Moore (husband Scott), brother Ryan Whitehead, nieces Madison Walker, Brooke Cottrell (husband Dorian), Savannah Walker, and nephew Weston Moore.
A call of convenience will be held on Friday, January 29 from 10-6 in the chapel at Mynatt’s in Fountain City. Family will be there throughout the day and would love to hear your memories of him. There will be a private graveside for family on Saturday January 30 at 11 am. We wish to encourage those feeling hopeless to get help early on, and for those with hope, to share it with those around them. Take time to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you and how much you love them everyday as you never know what tomorrow holds. You may never know how much a simple call or listening ear could mean to someone. Online condolences may be left at www.mynattfh.com.
