John Paul Gupton of Knoxville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on his way home from church Sunday evening, May 6, 2018, at the age of 25. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday the 11th at Halls Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. A funeral service will be held at 7 PM, immediately following visitation hours. Pastor Timothy Gupton will officiating. Burial will be Saturday at Bethany Baptist Church at 10 AM in Knoxville, TN.
John Paul was born on June 15, 1992 in Knoxville, TN to loving parents Timothy and Marshell Gupton. He graduated high school in 2010. He married his sweetheart Joy Mueller on April 26, 2014, in Knoxville, TN, and was a devoted father to his children. John worked in the family-owned Stamp Masters Concrete business. He loved the Lord and it was manifested by being very active in his church, Halls Baptist Church, leading the adult and children’s choirs, driving the bus for the bus ministry, doing the landscaping and singing special music.
John Paul will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joy; his children John “Philip,” Josie Grace, Joanna Joy Faith; his brothers and sister Stephen (Rachel), Joshua (Brittney), Bethany, Titus, Michael, Gabriel and Elijah; 20 nieces and nephews; grandparents Carol Southerland, Vicki Gupton, Wilbur Van Dyke and his wife Mary, Glenn Franklin Roberson and his wife Kathy; extended family and dear friends. He was proceeded by grandparents Clyde Boyd Gupton, MaryLouise VanDyke and Ruby Joyce Bates.
