John James Craig

July 15, 1918 — January 5, 2013

John James Craig age 94 of Knoxville passed away suddenly Saturday January 5, 2013. He was a dedicated and longtime member of 1st Baptist Church of Knoxville, he served as a Deacon for many years, sang in The Golden Notes Choir as was awarded The Trula Dunlap Award in 2003. He was the recipient of Fort Sanders’ Covenant Platinum Award. He served in World War II where he received a bronze star and numerous other honors. Preceded in death by loving wife of 66 years, Hazel Craig, parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include nieces and caregivers, Linda Geise and Keryl Fillers and many other nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the youth department at First Baptist Church of Knoxville 510 West Main Street Knoxville, TN 37902. Funeral service will be 4:30 Tuesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Rev. Dave Ward officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 pm Wednesday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for interment service at 2 pm. The family will receive friends 2:30 to 4:30 pm Tuesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City.
