John Riley Farr

John Riley Farr, age 89 of Strawberry Plains, TN passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025. He was a member of Northside Christian Church for over 60 years. John worked for Norfolk Southern as a train dispatcher for 44 years before retiring. He loved everything Tennessee, and spending time with his family as they meant the world to him, especially his grandbabies.

Preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ada Farr; son, Benjamin Riley Farr; grandson, Luke Hodges Farr; and sister, Sharon Patt.

John is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Georgia Farr; sons, Howard (Sharon)McKinley Farr and Mark (Rene) Farr; brother, Richard Malone; as well as 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 11:00AM-12:00PM at Northside Christian Church, with a service following at 12:00PM, Rev. Fritz Haverkamp officiating. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Northside Christian Church.
