John Erwin Harrington, born to William Walter Harrington and Anna Beatrice (Kirkpatrick) Harrington in Knoxville on December 2, 1928, passed away on March 14, 2014. John was a graduate of Knoxville High School (1946), a Veteran of the United States Navy, 32nd Degree Mason, a councilman on the first city council of Oak Ridge Tennessee, a Kentucky Colonel, a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Washington Pike Baptist Church, and retired from Hukill-Hazlett-Harrington Insurance Agency Incorporated in Cincinnati, Ohio. John is preceded in death by first wife, Elizabeth Mae Painter; parents, Bill and Bee; sister, Thena H. Wallace. He is survived by spouse Helen H. Harrington; three children, John Randall of Hamilton, OH, Thomas Merritt of Kingwood, TX, Tracy Elizabeth Coomer of Pleasant Plain, OH, and Gary Erwin Russell of Knoxville, TN; seven grandchildren, William “Bill”, Jenneane, Christine, Jason, Ray, Deborah, and Daniel; fourteen great-grandchildren, Sarah, Stephanie, Jed, Max, Jason, Trystan, Ireland, John, Devi, William, Landon, Liam, Rosa; brother, Walter and wife Marian; and sister, Grace H. Felker. Visitation will be held at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City, on Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Mynatt Funeral Home on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with graveside services to follow at Lynnhurst Cemetery with Rev.
