John was born and raised in Long Island, NY spending most of his early adult life there. He spent time with the 82nd Airborne right after the end of WWII. When he returned from the Service he became a Master Woodworker as he loved working with his hands.John operated his own business, building and installing wood flooring, cabinets and custom furniture. Another great love of his was boating. He incorporated his professional skills into his pastime by building, installing, and repairing boat and yacht interiors at a small waterfront service center he started on Long Island. He owned and operated several cabin cruisers of his own and loved cruising the area waterways with his family in his off time. When John was in his early 20’s he met the love of his life… Dorothy. They spent the next 60 years by each others side, creating a wonderful family and living a full life. Their loving partnership produced five children and fourteen grandchildren, as well as several great grandchildren.In the late 70’s John and Dorothy moved to South Florida to pursue greater business opportunities and enjoy more time on the water. John and Dorothy retired to East Tennessee in 2002. They were fond of the area and loved to take scenic rides and view the natural beauty of the countryside. John Hindelang lived the “American Dream”. He worked hard and played hard. He loved and took care of his family and his family will forever love him for that. The people in his life will surely miss him and absolutely never forget him.He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of Knoxville TN, Daughters Dorothy of Long Island, NY and Barbara of Knoxville TN and Sons Clark of Central TN and Glenn of South FL. He was proceeded in death by his oldest son Johnny, also of Knoxville, TN.
