Joe “Jody” R. Haynes III, age 70, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. He attended Central High School and graduated from the Tennessee Military Institute in 1970. Jody attended Carson Newman before opening Custom Cycle Corner in 1972. He is a big part of the original motorcycle culture in Knoxville, and was known for the numerous motorcycles he built and restored. Jody continued his career in the motorcycle industry by working for Knoxville Harley Davidson and Manatee River Harley Davidson in Bradenton, Florida. He was a member at Green Acres Baptist Church. While in Florida, he and his wife Judy attended Faith Life Church in Sarasota. Jody was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Haynes; father, Joe R. Haynes Jr.; and infant brother, Jimmy Haynes. He is survived by his daughter, Samantha (Daniel) King; son, Clark Haynes; sister, Margaret (Mike) Murdaugh; mother, Reba Haynes; and grandson, Jackson King, who brought him great Joy in the last year of his life. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Loveland Baptist Church, 1320 Spring Hill Road Knoxville, Tennessee 37914 with funeral service to follow at 5:00 pm. in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to UT Hospice.
