Joe Edd Neubert

Joe Edd Neubert age 86 of Knoxville, peacefully passed into the presence of his Dear Lord on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born August 11, 1935 in Knoxville, Tn. and was a proud graduate of Central High School. His first job was working at New Process Radiator Works. He also served as an officer with the City of Knoxville Police Dept and was one of two officers that started the “Blue Hawks” division. As an officer he had the privilege to escort Miss America and President Johnson in Knoxville. He also was an Adjuster with Allstate. He always loved driving fast, which transformed into his passion of NASCAR where he raced #86 with the likes or Richard Petty, Buddy Baker, Bobby Allison, Fred Lorenzen, Joe Weatherly, Cotton Owens and Fireball Roberts among others; with local drivers H. E. Vineyard, Herman Goddard as well as the late Tootle Estes and Buddy Rogers. He also was shop manager Howard Pontiac and Rice Olds. He then founded his own business “Joe Neubert Body Shop” in 1979 where he built the business on “honest service” and his good name. Today the business is still operating as “Joe Neubert Collison Center” on the same principles. Joe was an avid bowler and golfer, recording 2 aces and playing at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill or Doral to name a few. He had his pilots license and had his own house boat “Really High Cotton” and was part of the Vol Navy. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Carol H. Neubert (12/21/15), his parents, Otis C. & Joanna Neubert, father/mother-in-law, Arthur and Lola Holcomb, best friend and brother in law, Lowell George. Brother and sister in law, Ghay and Phyllis Holcomb, sister in law, Ruth Holcomb Stroupe Rogers. Joe is survived by his loving sons, Jeff (Stacy) Neubert, Jody (Mike) Neubert and Craig (Penny) Carringer. Grandchildren, Garrett Neubert, Piper (Kayne) Roberts and Jaci Jo Neubert, Natalie and Ella Nicole Neubert, Casey Carringer, Grant Carringer, Ashli (Reid) Ellison Heimkreiter, and great grandsons, Murdock Rogan “Doc” Roberts, Carter Darnell Carringer. Sisters and brothers-in-law; Mary Lynn George and Jeannine (David) Courtney. Sisters-in-law, Nancy Sellers, Brother-in-law, Jerry (Pearl) Holcomb, several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to care giver, Terri Welty, special friend and employee, Brian Portman and close friends Bill Reynolds, Kendl Widener and Ron Easterday. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel followed by a “Celebration of Life” service Rev. Chris Cupp officiating, the family request that masks be worn to attend. Family and friends will meet 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2022 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel to leave in procession for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service at Asbury Cemetery.
