JoAnn Henson Cooper, age 87 of Knoxville, TN, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 5, 2024. She died peacefully in her sleep with her husband of 68 years by her side. JoAnn taught high school art at Powell and Halls High School for 27 years combined. She was a gifted artist filled her home with many beautiful water color paintings. She was preceded in death by her parents Harvey McCoy Henson (Coy) and Rittie Lyon Henson, daughter FaNee L. Cooper, and several siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Leo J. Cooper, Sr. (former Knox County Commissioner), Kristy Carter, son Leo J. Cooper, Jr. and wife Laurin Cooper, her grandchildren Casey Carter, Donnie Carter and wife Ali, Leo J. Cooper, III (Trey) and Avery Cooper. Her great grandchildren Leah Carter and Briley Brumley. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life Service Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, Rev. Jonathan Tharpe officiating.
