Joan Marie Callahan

Joan Marie Callahan, 87, of Powell passed away February 24, 2023. She was born December 21, 1935, in Knoxville, TN to John and Margaret Whitton and was the oldest of five children. Joan grew up in the Lonsdale community and graduated from Rule High School. She was a CNA and worked with Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, FL before retiring and returning to TN in 2006. She loved to craft, sew, watch HGTV, and decorate for Christmas which was her favorite holiday. She knew and loved her savior Jesus Christ and shared her faith openly. Joan is survived by her children, Daniel Worsham (Dena), Deborah Patriquin, and Joy Case (Phillip), grandchildren, Jamie Fuller (Kirby), Phoebe Hales (Dustin), Matthew Worsham, and Joshua Morrison, great grandchildren, Austin Hicks, Alexis Hein, and Ryan Hein. She is proceeded in death by her loving companion William Cruse, daughter Deane Buhl, parents, siblings Shirley Satterfield, Mary McElroy, John Whitton, and Joe Whitton, and great grandson Isiah Hein. Special thanks to all her friends, neighbors, and staff of Candleridge Plaza Apartments that cared so well for Joan checking in on her, sharing meals with her, and visiting. It was not uncommon for a neighbor to be with Joan when her family called or visited. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 27, 2023, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. A 7:00pm service will follow, with Greg Schmid officiating. Family and friends will then meet at Woodhaven Cemetery on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 12:45pm for an 1:00pm graveside service. Online condolences may be left at www.mynattfh.com.
