Jimmy R. Milligan age 84, of Knoxville entered his heavenly home July 7, 2022. Jim loved the Lord, his family, and his community. He was a longtime member and choir director at Heiskell United Methodist Church. In retirement, he joined First Baptist Church, Seymour. Jim worked at Y-12 for 37 years, where he received many accolades and worked on many successful projects. He was very active in both youth and high school sports in the Powell community for many years as both a coach and an official, and was still often referred to as “Coach” by former players. Jim was blessed with many talents. He excelled at both sports and academics as a young man, and never lost his competitive spirit whether on a ballfield, fishing, hunting, golfing, or throwing horseshoes. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took pride in his family, especially “his boys”. He is preceded in death by parents, James and Dorothy Milligan, sister Rachel Spradlin, and brother Tommy Milligan. Survived by his wife of 64 years Jammie Milligan, who provided excellent and loving care for him, especially during his battle with Alzheimer’s, Sons; Jim, Jr. (Micki), Tim (Jamie), Chris (Angie), and Spencer. Grandchildren, Michael (Shelly) Milligan, Gera (Jason) Stooksbury, Derek (Samantha) Milligan, Lauren (John) Walliser, Eli and Ellie Milligan, Ross (Courtney) McCall, Cameron McCall, Caroline Milligan, 13 great grandchildren. Brothers, Ron (Christine) and Ted (Brenda) Milligan; sister-in-laws, Charlotte Bettis and Gail Letterman, and brother-in-law Eddie (Ann) Weaver. Many “Thanks” to Eddie and Ann Weaver, and Angie Milligan for their excellent care as Pappy transitioned to heaven. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Callahan Road Baptist Church with funeral service to follow, Rev. Marc Sasser and Rev. Mike Hall officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2022 at Highland Memorial Cemetery (Sutherland Avenue) for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service. Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
