Jerry Alan Dills "Pop-Pop", age 61, went home to be with Jesus on April 13, 2023. Jerry was the Officials Coordinator for Knoxville City Parks and Recreation. He was also affiliated with SEAA and SPA softball associations for many years. Preceded in death by his father Johnny Dills, mother and stepfather Elizabeth and George Shoe, and father-in-law Jerry Foust. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sherry Dills, his children Samantha (DJ) Yearwood, Dustin Dills, Amanda (Josh) Joslin, and grandchildren Cameron, Hayden, Emalynn, Ella, Addyson, Callaway, and Miller. Additionally, he leaves behind his sister Terry Holley, brother Greg Dills, Mother-in-law Ellen and Father-in-law George Braden, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends. He loved his job, and loved sports intensely, but Jerry will be remembered most for his love of people. He was a dedicated and passionate mentor for kids and young adults, believing that everybody can be great if they just have somebody to believe in them. He lived that belief out with humbleness and a kindness that shaped many lives. As much as he loved others, Jerry's family always came first. His wife Sherry was truly the light of his life, and anyone who ever met him knew he never missed a chance to brag or share stories about his kids. He carried many titles in his life, but none more proudly than "Pop-Pop". Jerry was a generous gift-giver, a source of counsel and a listening ear, he loved to tease without mercy, and fix all our favorite desserts. He was our rock in so many ways. We will miss him dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held at Caswell Park in Knoxville, on Friday, April 28. Friends and family will gather from 5-7pm to share favorite memories and stories. A ceremony to honor him will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Isaiah 117 House at https://isaiah117house.com/. Choose Knox County, in honor of Jerry Dills.
