Jerry Lee Carroll, age 76, passed away unexpectedly October 11, 2024 at UT Medical Center in the presence of family. Jerry was born in Grantsboro, TN & graduated from Jacksboro High School. He joined the Marine Corps in 1968 then trained at Parris Island & Camp Lejeune before being stationed in Okinawa, Japan and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. Jerry had a mechanical engineering degree & worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville among other hospitals in Tennessee and Florida during his career. Jerry was good humored, giving, loved golfing, UT football, any view of the mountains, fun games & giving gifts at Christmas and especially his family & friends.

He is survived by daughter, Buffy Cox; Son, Johnny Carroll; Son in law, John Cox; granddaughters, Rebecca & Abby Cox; sister Judy Minton; nieces & nephews, Marty, Tammy, Tommy & Tonya as well as several great nieces & nephews.

The family would like to extend a special & heartfelt thank you to the staff & friends at Morning Pointe- Powell and at Morning Point- Knoxville for their support, care, attention & laughter they brought to Jerry. The family would also like to give a special thank you to the nurses, doctors & chaplains at UT Medical Center ER for their kindness, support, compassion & thoughtfulness during his final hours.

The family will have a graveside service with military honors at East TN State Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway on Thursday, October 17 at 10:00 A.M, with guests to arrive by 9:45 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wreaths Across America through the East TN Veterans Honor Guard via the link below. Wreaths Across America is an organization that honors veterans by placing Christmas wreaths at veterans' graves during the Christmas holiday to bring honor to veterans and Christmas spirit to their grieving families.
