Jerome Templeton Smith III, age 74 of Knoxville, TN, born in Morristown, TN, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Sacred Ground Hospice House, with his loving wife of 30 years by his side. He graduated from Central High School in 1965, where he was Mr. CHS, Captain of the football team, class president and a member of several clubs. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Business Administration. During his career he was a Trust Officer at Valley Fidelity Bank/1st Tennessee bank in Knoxville and had some financial advisory positions in Los Angeles, CA and Dallas, TX. After retirement from CVS distribution center, he enjoyed working at the Knoxville Zoo, where he enjoyed seeing the children running around the carousel, and also worked with the Knox County election commission for several years. He was a Member of Inskip Baptist Church. Jerome will be greatly missed by all who knew him or had contact with him, especially with old high school buddies and football players at the monthly “Old Goat” dinners. He never met a stranger and was always ready to help family and friends with his love, wit, and knowledge. He is preceded in death by his mother Mildred Smith and father Jerome Templeton (JT) Smith II; former wife Leeann Smith. He is survived by wife Nancy Roberts Smith, daughter Kristie (Terry) Cramer, Sons-in-law Jim (Robyn) Gilliland and Chris (Amy) Gilliland. Sister Rachel (Bob) Vineyard. Sisters-in-law: Caye (Gene) Trivette, Betty Mahan, Brenda Wayne and Bill Roberts.Grandchildren: Samantha Cramer, Tiffany Cramer (Josh) Garrett, Gabe Merrithew, Bryan (Hailey) Williams, Haleigh (Trevor) Freeman, Kaitlyn Gilliland, Tyler Gilliland and Timothy Gilliland. Great-grandchildren: Callie, Nova Mae, Luke Garrett, Taytum & Enslee Williams. Nieces and nephews: Russell Trivette, Kevin Trivette, Jalee Trivette, Lakota Trivette, Paige Lamb, Braiden Lamb, Lindsay (Ryan) Watkins, Abby Watkins, Aaron Roberts, Jonathon Slabick, Tene Beene, Katie McDaniel, Christine Vineyard, Robert Vineyard, and many more loving family members.
