Jennie S. Whited, age 85, of Knoxville, TN passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at The Lantern at Morning Pointe in Powell. She was a member of the Smoky Mountain Hiking Club, Thursday Hikers and the 900 Miler Club where she finished First Map in 1995 and went on to complete five of these and was the first woman to do five Maps. She attended Fountain City Church and was a retired teacher at Karns High School.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen J. Steffey and Marguerite Steffey.
She was survived by her children, Donna W. Corum and John M. (Michelle) Whited, III; sisters, Gail Burleson, Sheila (Jerry) Cooper, Phyllis (Richard) Kirk; grandchildren, John Michael (Jenna) Corum, Taylor and Cole Kollenberg; special cousin, Sandy (Gerald) Thomas; nephews, Stephen Cooper, Max Cooper, Ben (Haley) Kirk; nieces, Emily K. (Mark) Droke, Belinda Dandy and Debbie (Bill) Ledbetter.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the staff at The Lantern at Morning Pointe in Powell, Amedisys Home Health & Hospice and to a very special friend and caregiver, Karen Judd.
The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel in Powell, TN.
