J. V. (Jefferson Vance) Freshour, 91, went to be with the Lord February 20 at his home. Born in Martell, TN, raised in the Farragut area, J. V. served with honor in the US Navy in the Pacific theater during World War II. After the war he worked for C.M. McClung Company for 27 years, then Walker Supply, Alcoa, for 16 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Hammonds Freshour; daughter, Susie Freshour Loope; a brother; two sisters; and two grandsons. He is survived by son, Larry, and wife, Carolyn, of Greenville, SC; daughter, Sarah Doyle, of Louisville and her friend and companion, Bob Apley; and son, David, of Knoxville; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. Celebration of his life at 8 PM Friday at Buffat Heights Baptist Church, 2800 Mill Road, conducted by Rev Dave Thomas. Family and friends will meet 1:15 Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home and proceed to Highland Memorial for a graveside services at 2 pm. Military Honors will be provided by Volunteer State Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Buffat Heights Baptist Church in J. V.'s memory. Visitation will be held from 6-8 Friday, February 22, at Buffat Heights Baptist Church.
