Jean Henderlight Major

Clara Jean Henderlight Major, age 89, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, May 11th surrounded by her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Revealers Sunday School Class. A graduate of Central High School Class of 1945, she later graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing and served as an LPN for many years. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling, playing Canasta with dear friends, and spending time with family. Jean was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Gwendolyn Sanderson; husbands Roy Henderlight and Gene Major; siblings and spouses Frances Weaver (Fred), Pat Cox (Jack), Bud Sanderson (Bobbie), Oneta Smith (Bob), and Libby Martin (Maurice); and daughter-in-law Sissy Henderlight. Survived by children Jim Henderlight, Donna Arp, and Jeff Henderlight (Tammy); grandchildren Scott Henderlight, Josh Henderlight (Heather), Molly Arp and Curtis Henderlight; great-grandchildren Gavin and Avery Henderlight; beloved nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank her special friends the Canasta girls, and her loving caregivers Tammy Henderlight and Jennifer Carter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CUMC Building Fund or The Pat Summitt Foundation. Family and friends will meet 12:45PM Tuesday, May 16th at Greenwood Cemetery for 1PM interment. The family will receive friends Monday, May 15th from 5-7 PM at Christ United Methodist Church with service to follow, Dr. Bruce Marston and Reverend Denny Humphries officiating.
