James Verlon Simmons, age 77 of Powell, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on March 9, 2021. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Powell. James was an Army Veteran and was stationed in South Korea. James retired after 30 years of service at Y-12. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends, and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents; Horace James Simmons and Edith Mae (Miller) Hill, and brother; Leonard Hill. He leaves behind his loving wife; Pauline “Polly” Simmons, daughter; Micah (Joe) Tripp, son; Mike Simmons, grandchildren; Alec (Brittany) Tripp, Caleb Tripp, Madeline Tripp, and many other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends from 10:00 – 12:00 PM Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, with a service to follow at 12:00 PM with Rev. Tim Parker officiating. Family and friends will immediately proceed to Woodhaven Memorial Gardens for interment, serving as pallbearers: Franklin Anderson, Gene Collins, Jason Smith, Jeff Smith, Caleb Tripp, Jim Wilson, Phillip Wiseman .
